The Trailblazer

Late Shri Udumula Gregory Reddy was an eminent educationist with boundless determination, humility, hard work, and generosity.

A visionary par excellence, he steered the institutions under the management of St. Joseph’s Education Society to the pinnacles of success.

As the Founder Secretary of St. Joseph’s Education Society, Shri. U.G. Reddy consistently strived for providing quality education in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. He started the Association of ICSE & ISC Schools in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh in order to bring about co-operation and co-ordination among all ICSE & ISC Schools. His relentless efforts as the Secretary and Treasurer for over 15 years in bringing all schools together has made the Regional Association a strong body looking into the matters concerning the CISCE curriculum and syllabus implementation. He became the chief cornerstone in coordinating with schools in Hyderabad and organizing programs to commemorate the United Nations Day, October 24, thereby becoming the Secretary of the U.N. Council for the then Andhra Pradesh. He generously donated an acre of land in Habsiguda, Hyderabad to the Council to start the Regional Office of the Council in South India which will be inaugurated in the coming academic year. He was the recipient of the “Jewel of India” award by the National Institute of Human Resource Development for his contribution in the field of education. Honoring his unstinted support in the field of education, the Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate has conferred Fr. George HESS Excellence Award in 2018 for his outstanding contribution to the cause of education, human enrichment, and world peace. His immense contribution to the smooth functioning of the Association and to the field of education can never be forgotten.
